Our Environmental Policies...
From the outset Flusco Wood has been developed from sound ecological principles; from the use of recycled materials in construction, to reduced surface water run off to help prevent flooding, and our own on site drainage arrangements.
Over 1000 native and other species trees, and wildlife friendly shrubs such as buddleia have been planted.
Our buildings are made from timber sourced from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) responsibly managed forests and have very high thermal qualities.
Our dedicated nature conservation area in the centre of the park recently received high praise from Prof. David Bellamy OBE who visited the park to advise on our further development. He was impressed with how quickly and with the right management a wide variety of wild plants had become established.
Holiday lodge owners at Flusco Wood - Gerry and Elizabeth Morton - who are keen ornithologists have recorded bird sightings and weather patterns at Flusco Wood since 2002. Prof Bellamy was delighted to hear from them that 71 species have been spotted in and around the park over that time.
Flusco Wood is a park which cares for its environment, come and see for yourself. |
